Have you tried overnight oats before? I have to admit when I first heard of eating cold oats I wasn’t overwhelmed with anticipation. However I am always looking for quick, filling and healthy new breakfast ideas so I gave it a try. That was a year ago and since I have tried every combination I can think of:).
Overnight oats can be mixed together in less than 5 minutes using a variety of filling and wholesome ingredients. Simply place them in the refrigerator overnight and breakfast is waiting for you when you rise. They will keep in a covered dish in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. It truly doesn’t get much easier than this!
Try making your own variation by mixing one cup oats to one cup liquid (milk, almond milk, coconut milk) and then adding in some of your favorites such as nut butter, nuts, seeds, raisins, fresh or frozen fruits (berries and peaches are excellent options). Have a little fun in your kitchen:).
Since my kitchen has been invaded by pumpkins and apples for the season, it seemed like a good idea to bring the taste of fall into my oats. I like to start with a base ingredient recipe so as not to overwhelm anyone with a long list of ingredients. The optional ingredients are a great way to enhance the taste and nutritional value of your oats but not necessary if they are not something you keep stocked in your pantry.
